Repo the Genetic Opera with Q&A with Darren Lynn Bousman (director of this and Saw II, III, IV), Terrance Zdunich (writer) and Darren Smith (writer)
8 p.m. @ Ackerman Grand Ballroom
Summary: In the year 2056 – the not so distant future – an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet. Out of the tragedy, a savior emerges: GeneCo, a biotech company that offers organ transplants, for a price. Those who miss their payments are scheduled for repossession and hunted by villainous Repo Men. In a world where surgery addicts are hooked on painkilling drugs and murder is sanctioned by law, a sheltered young girl searches for the cure to her own rare disease as well as information about her family’s mysterious history. After being sucked into the haunting world of GeneCo, she is unable to turn back, as all of her questions will be answered at the wildly anticipated spectacular event: The Genetic Opera.

Trailer:

Is the director really coming?! That’s awesome! I’m telling all my friends.
heck yes! CEC is finally doing some good around here!
how will entry be determined?
You know that short they play before any cec movies? Where the guy talks about how he was born on a crisp Delaware morning, and then gets shot?
Who’s that guy? An UCLA actor? Or was this nothing to do with CEC?
Kent -
Hey Kent, you need to rsvp for a spot at http://my.ucla.edu under Event Reservations. You can sign up now until the day of the movie. Also, you will need to show you BruinCard and be at Ackerman by 730pm.
Anonymous –
The short before the film is a CEC ad and the actor was a previous Films Director on Campus Events.
Do you need to be a UCLA student to attend? I’ve been wanting to take a peek at this for a while since we covered it on our show…

The facebook free sneak page says that we can bring guests. Is it okay to bring guests who are not UCLA students and/or old alumni without Bruin Cards?
Robert –
Yes, you need to be a current UCLA student and show the UCLA BruinCard Student ID Card to attend our Free Sneaks. However, our $2 Movies are open to the public. Thanks!
Ariana –
Hey Ariana, did you mean the “invite people to come” button on FB? That’s because it’s an open event, but the event is restricted to UCLA students only. Attendees must be current UCLA students to sign up for seats by signing in on the my.ucla.edu website. Hope this answers your question.
It says: Guests are allowed to bring friends to this event.
But thank you for clarifying and responding so quickly! Can UCLA students attend last minute? Does everyone have to sign up?
Any concessions for media? (I’m a TD at E!)
Ariana –
Hi again,
There’s always a last minute waitlist for UCLA students, which lets in at 730 after the rsvp. The line is at Kerckhoff Patio outside the food court. Come out, come out! :]
Robert –
If you mean that you want to watch the movie, you will need to contact the Films Director, Alex, at alex.jeffries@gmail.com. Otherwise, I’m not sure what you mean by concessions or what a TD is short for…
Where is the Event Registration within my.ucla? I can’t find it.
CJ -
Hi, it’s in the left sidebar when you log-in. The category is Productivity – Event Reservations. Btw, this movie screening has already passed, but there’s one tomorrow night! Role Models! (psst. it has mclovin from superbad in it)
